If you plan to shoot in the UK or Ireland but need help with contacts, logistics and permits, then look no further. As the founder of Location Base, Derek Harrington, I have utilised my extensive network of contacts, to connect with my clients from Norway, Japan, China, Germany, France and the USA.
I find and fix locations, logistics, accommodation, transport, equipment and crew, for production companies working in Features, TV, Stills, Pop Videos and Corporates. I have been a Location Scout, Location Manager, and Production Manager in the UK for more than 30 years and have serviced numerous overseas productions shooting here especially in London. As an ex Assistant Director also, I am familiar with all the studios especially around London.
For American clients I have recently worked on a web series “Piss Off, I Love You”, “La La’s Full Court Life” for VH1 and an NFL Wembley Promo. I location scouted and managed two major fashion shoots for Indian clients, and 3 adverts from Japan. I have invaluable connections within the British Production scene. My earliest credits include work with Monty Python, The Comic Strip, Handmade Films and I also worked on The Empire Strikes Back.
So, perhaps you’re a film or TV company, with your eye on the Lake Districts of North West England for your period drama shoot, or you’re directing a slick pop video, in the City of London. I’ll send over location photographs from the UK, and when you arrive, I’ll take you on a tour of any location, easily sourced around the British Isles.
Being a multicultural country, we’ve got translators for every language, I can advise you on a budgeting plan, and book hotels and a catering service for your cast and crew. I take health and safety very seriously, so I can arrange insurance, risk assessments and safeguarding particularly if you are employing child actors. Sourcing local actors won’t be a problem, from either casting agents or drama schools. Need a director, line producer, casting director, camera-operator, editor, DIT, gaffer? I know all the best people.
I can raise location contracts and liaise with authorities to get those vital permits from the councils, film offices and police. I’ve got contacts with equipment and prop hire companies too, so you can avoid the hassle of shipping equipment over. Getting around, I can provide transport, hire cars, minibuses, vans etc. So why not get in touch, as I look forward to bringing your UK ideas to reality.
